Day 2
Today you'll hear from your Mom. Really I don't know where to start. Brandon is a Mamas boy. He's so much like her too! I see so much of her in him everyday. Brandon adores his Mom and puts her on a pedastal, which he believes is how Mothers should be treated. Do they joke around!?... uhh ALL THE TIME. He is usually trying to play jokes on her, giving her a hard time for just about everything, and actually wrestling her down to the ground, and yes I'll say it on here... tooting on her!! She's for sure a boy Mom! Lisa is the most patient giving person. She would literally give her last penny or her only meal to someone else, especially her kids. Brandon and I are so blessed to have her. I see so much of her in Brandon.. they are so laid back, giving and generous, very very rarely gets upset or worked up, gives people so many chances (probably one too many), neither of them see much reason to get upset with family, friends, or ever strangers. These two are the type of people who would never treat a waitress, service worker, employee, friend, or family harshly. I have heard them both say, theres just no reason to be mean to someone else.
More than anything Lisa wants to see Brandon happy, successful, and live a full life. She has done and will continue to do anything in her power to help her boys acheive that. The stories I have heard about Lisa and her boys are very entertaining. Like the time she threw the tooth paste after the boys would not stop arguing, or they time the boys thought their Mom was loosing it so they called Granny to tell on her. She did everything for Brandon from birth on.. from not leaving his side during his surgery as a baby, the many nights of homework, the sporting events, games and practices every night, birthday parties, golf tournaments, helping with college, and still doing so much more for us then we deserve.
I truly believe theres not another son and Mother that are as close as Lisa and Brandon or Lisa and her boys. Her advice to us is so important, she has said multiple times she wants us to make smart decisions and not to rush anything, she wants us to have the best life we could have and whatever she can do for us she would do. We appreciate her more than anything. I think the whole "mamas boy" thing is very judged but in our situation, with Lisa as his mom, its a blessing. She gives us space, lets us be adults but is always there when we need her and loves our Kennedy with her whole heart. Kennedy is crazy about her Lele, always having tea parties, dancing to "How Sweet it is", drawing in the floor while Lele works, sharing almonds and doritos. Her and I are very close as well, we are more friends than in laws. I can talk to her about anything and I know she will listen, never judge me, and always seems to give such good unbias advice.
We love her so very much. And I love that my husband has her best qualities, beacause she is simply a good person.
Now for a few words from your Mom.
Brandon,
32 years and 9 months ago, your Dad & I were sitting
around our “mobile home” in Medicine Park, after roofing all day, relaxing and
watching TV when a Gerber baby commercial came on. We were both thinking the same thing “let’s
have a baby”!..... 9 months later you made your appearance into this world.
At the ages of 19 & 24, we had no idea what we were
about to experience. No amount of advice
or wisdom could ever explain our journey that was about to begin. You hear all the time that there is no love
larger than a child’s love but you still don’t understand
the magnitude of this or how a child changes your life forever from that day
forward. Holding you for the first time
was the most amazing feeling that had happened in my “short” life – people were
right! At that moment – my life changed forever in the most wonderful way –
something that really can’t be explained in words.
I try to tell you all the time how proud I am of you &
hope you understand that those are not just words. I think you now realize how a child’s love
impacts your life. When I hear other
parents talking about all the challenges and problems they have with their
children, It’s just something I could never comprehend. I’m not sure how you managed to avoid most of
these things as a child and young adult, but you did! You never broke “core
rules”! When I try to think of a time
that I was really upset with you or that you did something wrong – there are
none. The only thing that ever upset me
was fighting with your brother. (LOL)
This journey of watching you grow up, without a doubt makes
me so proud of you. From all the trips
to the emergency room, all the road trips for baseball & golf, watching you
win All State to watching you fall in love and having your own child.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for these things
while knowing that the next part of your life journey has just begun. Never forget how much I love you and know that
I will ALWAYS be here for you to experience the good times and help you through
any bad times!
Have a wonderful birthday – I Love
You!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
